Our village

Antheia belongs to the municipality of Traianoupolis and is situated about 10km away from Alexandroupolis. It is also the seat of the municipality. It has a nursery school, a primary school, a junior high-school, a church and a recently renovated square. Our municipality has taken its name from the ancient town of Traianoupolis, ruins of which can be found near the village of Loutra and the Thermal Baths. Ancient Traianoupolis had taken its name from the Roman emperor Marcus Ulpius Traianus, who, in 106/7 A.D. on his way to a war in Dakia, founded schools, fortresses, libraries, baths, bridges and other welfare buildings for the reconstruction of the Roman empire. So, he also founded Traianoupolis. The ancient Hana is the emblem of our municipality.
